O Tannenbaum

The whole family ventured off to a local tree farm a couple weeks ago to cut down our Christmas tree. We've been getting our tree from a lot for the past couple of years, much to my dismay, but we decided that this year the boys were old enough to handle the tree farm.

We wandered through rows and rows of nobles and grands before finally settling on a beautiful specimen that was perfectly shaped. Auntie, Uncle Dave, and Makana chose the tree right next to ours and Kamaki settled down to cutting.

Michael was very interested in the cutting process and squatted down right next to Kamaki for a closer look. Everyone yelled "TIMBER!" as it fell to the ground, then we cheered as Kamaki hoisted it into the air and carried it back to the car to be tied down.

The boys could hardly contain their excitement when we brought the tree into the house and started to decorate. They helped hang the ornaments and danced around the room as we listened to Christmas music.

That night, I overhead them talking to each other in their beds.
"Tommy, we have a Christmas tree!"
"I know, and Santa Claus will put presents under it!"
"And he will know it's MY Christmas tree because I put ornaments on it."
"Me too! It's my tree too Michael."
"Hmmm.. Okay, we can share it."

I think that probably earned them a spot on the "Nice" list.
